Dog Haikus

In the wee hours of the morning I found myself writing unfortunate dog themed haikus. They're unfortunate because, though they are based on my dog Cooper, they are not terribly flattering. He is quite a flatulent companion.

Anyway, enjoy some dog haikus!

look over to see
dog dreams, however I spy
shiny balls instead
gruffly snoring dog
becomes less adorable
upon smelling farts
a secret delight
masticating dried offal
disgusts my human
so efficiently
my body converts meaty
goodness into farts
groggily trotting
quest for water at midnight
time to chew this thing

Excitement and Downtime

Despite the seemingly never ending parade of rain and also rain, this summer has been fairly enjoyable. I survived one solitary sunburn, relaxed by a few campfires, and went to way too many conventions, but mostly enjoyed time with new and not-so-new friends.

Singing with The Shake Ups has been one of the best things I've accidentally fell into. Not only do I get to scratch that perpetual musical itch, but I get to dust off my Con Table Skills™ and stretch my Merch Design Muscles™. That's pretty big for me considering my abrupt departure from tabling at conventions last year. Thankfully the band is keeping my table skill set from atrophying. That shit is hard to do and if you don't keep up with it, you lose it.

Speaking of segues, no longer having a regularly updating webcomic has me wondering if I've lost my previous audience. I fell of the face of the earth for a few months, so in terms of the internet I may as well be dead. Depression is kicking my ass most days, and seriously, this bitch gotta get her groove back. I'm slowly working my way back from the land of the dead and have been inking like a mad woman for the past few days. More than anything I need to feel the victory of following a project through to completion. It's a hard road to walk with all these mental obstacles in the way, but I'll get there eventually.

Just gotta keep going.

Pony Party at GenCon!

Conventions are amazing and I love them. Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately depending on when you ask me) the Shake Ups in Ponyville have doubled my personal convention schedule, making me hella busy delighting many people with our musical pony stylings.

This week we have the indomitable GenCon going on in our hometown, Indianapolis! If you've never been before, it is a Big Damn Event™ that you really must take part in to believe. If you aaaaaaare attending, you should sign up four our event and come to a super fun concert with our full six piece band! No, I'm not just saying that to get you to go, it really is a fun time!

Bustin' it up

Recently I was going about my business when suddenly..

SUDDENLY calf decided to secede from the rest of my leg. Unfortunately for me (and my calf) that plan wasn't going to work because, you know, there's connective tissue and stuff in there. Ultimately, what I thought to be the most terrible charlie horse turned out to be in actuality a torn muscle. Not knowing this at the time and still believing myself to be invincible (like you do), I continued to stretch and walk about on the horrible lake of fire that was my leg.

Don't do that, kids. It'll just make things worse.

This weekend I'm heading up to The Best Con Ever AKA Kids Read Comics. Let me tell you, I am getting PUMPED because not only will I be tabling with my best babe Bri and hanging out with a boatload of awesome cartoonists, but I'll get to play a couple of shows with The Shake-Ups in Ponyville!

Gonna rock out and dance with little kids! Gonna rock out and draw with little kids! Gonna kick it freestyle in the Iron Cartoonist challenge! OH MY GOSH this is the most fun con in the history of cons and it's ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!

Like, "you" collectively, not you personally. Let's be realistic here. Unless you are one of the super cool people that puts together this delightful show with stellar programming, amazing guests, and incredibly fun and educational atmosphere, then you aren't a personal "you" in this instance.

Anyway my peeps, if you find yourself in Ann Arbor this weekend, stop by the library for the best free show in Michigan. May there be many a high five heading your way.
